Paris Gets A Little Time Off

Note: Some of my files were lost in a recent system restore, rendering this episode invalid. My apologies for any inconveniences. I'm looking into ways of backing up my files.

Paris was relieved when she finally got a few days off from work. She'd been working hard and having difficulties keeping up with all the physical and mental demands of the human world. How they could keep up at such a pace, she could not understand. Eager to have a little time to herself, Paris spent the first day fishing and brought in an excellent haul.

The next morning, she planted some Chyrsanthemums she'd been meaning to plant. The idea of trying gardening was exhillerating. And who knew? Maybe it would help bring in a little money. Being homeless was beginning to wear on her. Somehow, she had to pull together the funds necessary to get a home.

During her adventures, Paris had met a couple others of her race. She decided to invite them to join a club and "The Rocket Boosters" were born. The only stipulation for joining was that you had to be an alien. While Paris still intended to socialize with humans as part of her research, she was thirsting for the companionship of her own kind. The group could use the rocket, play darts and/or chess, use science objects, and work on programming. Paris was fortunate to find a place that could sponsor her group, a science museum in Windenburg which had just been built.

Paris called together the first club meeting at the museum and faced off with the other two women in a game of chess each. She made a mental note to look around for more Sixams she could invite to the group. At the moment, she only knew of two other women.

As quickly as her time off had begun, it ended. Paris realized with a start that she had work the next morning and only a few hours within which to eat and get at least a little sleep. As she ate her grilled cheese sandwich, she considered all that had happened over the past few days. The first day, she had spent fishing, but what about yesterday? And today?

So much of her time had been spent catching up with needs that seemed to fall behind when she was working. She could only hope she would be able to afford a place soon so her needs could be taken care of at home and she could focus her energies on socialization while out and about. She curled up to catch a few z's before work. She doubted she'd be able to get a full night's rest, but she might be able to get just enough to keep her going at work tomorrow.

The next day, Paris worked hard for little reward. She really needed to improve her talent with the infernal machine as well as her logic. If she could do that, she might be able to successfully diagnose a patient and get them the proper medications and possibly get a promotion so she could advance her understanding of the human anatomy.

After work, she grilled potatoes at the park before challenging a young lady who was playing chess there. She was determined to improve her skill, little by little, day by day if necessary. Her survival skills were feeling challenged, but she wasn't about to give up. She had come here to learn about the human culture and she would!
