Shayna was raised in an abusive home. When she was 3, her father came home one evening, drunk as usual. Her parents got into an argument when her father became violent, punching her mother so hard that she fell down a flight of stairs. Both she and their unborn child were killed instantly. Shayna's father was charged with murder, but he was able to get a good lawyer and the case was dismissed.

As she grew older, her father started turning his fury toward Shayna. Any love Shayna knew from her mother was all but lost in time. Survival meant burying her feelings, appearing tougher then she felt, and staying out of her dad's way whenever possible. She survived by the skin of her teeth, stealing to get clothes and food.

Finally, Shayna became fed up with her father. Instead of going home after school, she took off on her bike, stealing food and keeping out of sight of police officers and other adults until finally reaching the shores of Meadow Glen. Still not wanting to be caught, Shayna made a point to stay out of the way of adults and found a secluded place to live. Hoping for a better future, but unable to attend a normal school, Shayna signed up for home schooling. Will Shayna survive or will she be caught and sent back to her father? Will she be able to make a better life for herself?

Aja Plots Revenge

"I don't want to hear your voice! I don't want you any where near me!" Aja hissed at Roderick upon their next unpleasant encounter. "The next time we fight, you are the one who will be on the losing end! Just. Stay away from me! Be gone, you headless llama!"

Roderick's face turned red. He looked as though he were about to respond, but instead he simply stormed off.

Aja needed to cool off. Being any where near Roderick simply made her blood boil. She talked herself down in the bathroom mirror.

"Come on, girl! You've got to pull it together. Sure, Roderick is a jerk, but is he worth all the excitement? Let him go his way, you go yours. Just... breathe." Aja breathed in slowly and held it for a moment before slowly letting it out again. In, out. In, out.

It would be time for breakfast soon. Aja decided to go fishing to catch something to eat. Finding something to focus on helped ease her tension and she even began to enjoy herself a bit.

It was hot and Aja decided to eat indoors. Roderick was on the couch, talking with Yuki. Aja remembered that she had been interested in getting to know the girl, but now she wasn't sure. How well did they know each other? Were they just acquaintances, or were they more? Were they friends? What if they were boy friend and girl friend? She didn't know if she liked that idea.

She decided to ignore Yuki and turned to speak with Malcolm Landgraab instead. He looked at her sharply. "You know, I saw how you treated my boy, Roderick earlier. That was not cool!"

"But, you don't even know what that was about," Aja began, "Rod..."

"I don't need to know what that was about. You don't treat Roderick like that. He's a great guy! I don't know you, and I don't want to. You're the one who should do the leaving!"

Aja shook her head, dumbfounded. She set her jaw squarely and stood up. She felt like retorting, but she was outnumbered. There were 3 of them and only one of her. Suddenly, Aja felt lonelier then ever. She strode firmly back out the door.

Aja headed for the gym. She needed to learn to fight to defend herself. She didn't need Roderick kicking her butt next time they fought. Besides, pretending the punching bag was Roderick's head was too much fun and helped alleviate at least some of the stress.

Aja didn't feel like going back to the park. Roderick and his cohorts would probably be there. She decided to go see the park in Willow Creek instead. She ran into a familiar face. A very sad familiar face.

"Hey, what's the matter?" Aja asked Sophie. Sophie just shrugged and shook her head. Aja paused to give Sophie a chance to respond, but she didn't say any thing further. She decided to distract her instead. She looked around for some sort of diversion.

"Hey, you want to watch the clouds with me?" Sophie nodded her head slowly. At first, obligingly, allowing Aja to point out what she saw, but soon she was pointing out cloud formations herself. Aja just listened and let Sophie do most of the talking.

Aja didn't know how long they lay on the ground like that, but at long last, Sophie sat up, brushing off her blouse. "Look at me," she giggled, "I'm a mess!"

Aja laughed wholeheartedly. "I'm not that pristine myself."

"Listen, I've got to go. I'm late for dinner and I still need to get my homework done, but thanks for spending a bit of time with me this afternoon."

Aja smiled, "Any time!" She realized, as she watched Sophie leave, that she had even been able to relax herself. Forgetting her own problems from earlier in the day. Her tummy rumbled. She'd been so distracted by Sophie she'd forgotten to fish for her dinner. She wasn't sure there was any place to cook here any way.

Luckily, she saw some grilled fruit someone had cooked up. Not so fortunately, it wouldn't be long before the food spoiled. Oh well! She had to eat. She shuddered at every bite as she forced herself to swallow each forkful. Fish was better!

It was long past time to be getting back to the park, but as she was preparing to leave, a girl came over.
"Hey, you new around here?"

Aja smiled. "No, I'm just visiting. I live in Oasis Springs. Why, who's asking?" Well, it was a half truth any way. She didn't actually have a home, but this other girl didn't need to know that.

Avery Raines, created by Simmie Sweetness

"My name is Avery Raines. It's nice to meet you."

Aja blinked. What did this girl want any way? "It's... nice to meet you." She said at last.

"Listen, I know it's getting late, but I was wondering if I could get your number. You know, maybe we could hang out sometime?" Wow! Awkward. Aja wasn't sure what to make of this girl.

"I'm sorry, but my folks don't let me give my number to strangers." Aja said lamely.

"Look, I'm sorry. I guess I'm just looking for a friend. You looked like a pretty friendly gal, that's all."

Aja sighed. "Ok, come talk with me in my office."

The girls settled down at the picnic table. Raine began their conversation. "So, tell me about yourself."

"Well, there's really not that much to tell." Aja knew her life was so not interesting. Besides, what could she possibly tell her any way? 'Hi, I'm a runaway. And I was wondering if you wouldn't mind keeping that to yourself?' Yeah right! She'd be back to the system before you could say 'foster care'.

"Come on, there's gotta be something. I mean, I'm sure you have hobbies or... something?"

"Well, I like my coffee with cream and sugar. Oh! And I'd like to be a song writer."

"You play?" Raine looked fascinated.

"Sure..."

The girls became so involved with their conversation, they talked the whole night through. At dawn, Aja made her way back to her encampment. She needed breakfast and a bit of sleep. Today was practically blown already.

Hazardous Work

One thing Paris hadn't counted on when she decided to take on work at the hospital was catching the illnesses her patients had. After all, she was an alien, and therefore not prone to human illnesses... right?

Paris learned just how wrong she was at work one day. Taking stock of her symptoms, stars, dizziness, and- Paris looked at her reflection in the mirror, yes, yes, she even had whirly spots. She quickly realized she had Starry Eyes. She rubbed her temples. This could not be happening!

Well, there was nothing for it. First, she was an alien. She wasn't about to let the doctors take a closer look at HER, thereby blowing her cover and possibly subjecting herself to mortal danger. For surely they would want to study her if they discovered she wasn't human and with their primitive methods, she shuddered at the notion. No, she would just have to keep working and take care of her own health her own way.

After Paris had sufficiently recovered, she decided to start a club for aliens. It would have to be covert, of course. The club would be extremely exclusive, for aliens only. It wasn't until she'd put together a list of those she would invite that she realized she actually didn't know that many aliens. She would have to remedy that. In the mean time, she decided to pull together the two she knew personally any way.

With luck, she was able to find a spot for the club to meet. A museum in Willow Spring's had a little house in the back where, historically speaking, a gardener had lived, tending garden. The museum offered it to Paris under the condition it be used for scholarly work and that loud parties be kept off the premises. They would also need to maintain it. It had some historical value. She agreed and called her friends to spend some time together.

Paris prepared the girls some grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. After all this hiding out, she relished the idea of having other Sixams to talk to!

After lunch, the girls enjoyed a movie together.

Paris abstractedly found it bemusing the guy looked how she imagined humans would respond were they to discover she was an alien and not human.

After the movie, Paris played a game of chess with one of the girls to close out the evening. It was getting late and she would have work tomorrow. She didn't want to be out much longer.

Thankfully, she was finally able to pay for a glorified outhouse! It wasn't much, but it would do her until she could build a home. At least she had a place to see to her needs now!

After work the next day, Paris picked out a book to read, called "Lucas Dark and the Increasingly Unlikely Series of Coincidences". She was so engrossed in the book, she didn't notice when 2 sims began to argue nearby.

The club met again, raising funds to build a rocket ship. Though it would still be a while before any of them needed to return to Sixam, it would be nice to have the ship at the ready for their return. And working together would lighten the load.

The next day at work, Paris caught another virus. This time, Gas & Giggles, a plague she would not wish upon any sim! She couldn't seem to stop laughing! She was laughing so hard, it made her sides and stomach ache. How perfectly nauseating! She was sure she had gotten it from one of the patients at the hospital and, if she had, the other Sixams could too. She decided to stay home until she was well again.

Settling In and- Roderick!

Aja was beginning to figure out the game called survival. She realized if she were to have enough to eat, she would need to get up early every morning in order to fish and cook it.

Trying to meet all the demands made upon herself took a lot of effort, especially roughing it out. Later that evening, Aja played a game with Sophia. It was nice having someone to talk to, even if the girl's ideas of what they wanted out of the relationship varied. Aja only wanted someone to talk to, but Sophia seemed to have other plans.

After the chess game, Aja headed off to use the restroom. She groaned and yawned, stretching; she was so tired! She had finished using the restroom and was headed to bed when she noticed how quickly the world seemed to be spinning. Her vision was turning black as well.

When she awoke the next day, her neck and back ached from having collapsed the night before. At some point, she must have moved to a bench at least, but she was tired and her body ached from the rough night. She desperately needed a bit of fun and social interaction, so she decided to play sea monster with the kids playing on the jungle gym.

She noticed a boy her own age lurking nearby and decided to introduce herself. Unfortunately, he seemed to be a bit of a snob, a class beyond Aja. He seemed to have his head up his... butt!

Aja was stressed to the limit. This boy's prudish behavior was more then she could stand. She was tired, sore, and lonely from the demands life was currently presenting her with. This was the last straw! She snapped the first insult she could think of, something lame about his style of clothes and how the world didn't stand still for prudes like him. She regretted it almost as soon as she had said it. She tried to apologize, but Roderick stormed off.

The next day, Aja was eating her breakfast when Roderick approached her again, implying that her mother was a llama. Aja was taken aback. She didn't have a mother, but she wasn't about to take the insult lying down either. She had a shocking surprise for him.

She smiled sweetly and offered her hand. "I apologize for yesterday. Can we be friends?"

She was pleased when he took the bait. "Now you listen here, you rich, stuck up, snob! It's beyond me why you think you have to harass me when I'm minding my own business, short of some menial need for revenge! It takes someone with a weak mind indeed to come up with as lousy an insult as attacking someone's mother. It's not my mother who's the llama, any way, it's yours! She couldn't even teach you how to properly dress or address others like a normal human being, you rich, stuck up, snob!"

Roderick was startled. He didn't know what to make of Aja. The girl actually had the gall to insult himself and his family?! It was more then he could stand. A scuffle ensued.

Unfortunately, with Aja as the loser and Roderick the victor. She needed to get away from this baboon before she suffered any further embarrassment or discomfort. Her pride felt as bruised as she imagined her body was crushed. She stormed off to the lady's room. Then it would be time for bed. Roderick may have won the fight, but he had not won the battle. Not by a long shot! Not if she had any thing to say about it!

Making Friends

Note: Some of my files were lost in a recent system restore, rendering this episode invalid. My apologies for any inconveniences. I'm looking into ways of backing up my files.

Aja was feeling famished the next morning, so she quickly gobbled down a carrot she had harvested in the area. As she ate, she began to plan what she needed to accomplish. She would have to continue exploring the area to find the resources she needed to survive. She'd have to be wary of accidentally returning to a school she didn't belong to. If she were discovered... Aja shuddered remembering the events of the previous day.

She gathered some sticks together and piled them up in the center of some stones she had piled together in a circle. This would serve nicely as a firepit; so long as someone didn't come along and wreck it, she could eat here as long as she needed to. For the most part, she would have to cook fish. This mornng, she decided to eat a bit of hotdog she had left over from her trip. She lit the fire with a match and blew gently, gently, until the fire caught. She nursed the fire until it jumped to life. When she was satisfied it was not going to blow out, she began fixing her food.

Aja was eating breakfast when the gardener set down at the fire. When he began talking to her, Aja quickly slipped away. He was a danger to her security and she didn't want to talk to him. She quickly gobbled down her hot dog.

She needed to get away from the park for a while and this trip had left her feeling pretty grungy, so she decided to go to the gym and take a shower. Perhaps life would seem a whole lot better after a good, hot shower. Just because she was living in the wilds didn't mean she wanted to smell that way!

Aja wasn't sure where she wanted to go to next, and she didn't have a lot of money for traveling any way. She decided to just go exploring at the park. She would have to hope that gardener didn't catch onto her. She needed to make a little money for expenses so she could travel more. If she wasn't found in the same place twice during school hours, maybe no one would notice she wasn't attending school. For now, she would just have to be careful.

That evening, when she was beginning to feel lonely and bored, Aja decided to play chess with Sofia. She watched her carefully as they played. Sofia had initially flirted with her, but she wasn't doing so now. On the contrary, she seemed to be engrossed in the game. Maybe Sofia wasn't half so bad as Aja had thought. She decided to reserve judgement until she had a better chance to know her. She didn't have many friends; she couldn't afford to be picky.

When Aja curled up that night, she was absolutely exhausted. She was ready for a good night's sleep, even if it was on a hard wooden bench, in the cold desert night air.

However, this time her sleep was disturbed by the sound of someone approaching. She rubbed her eyes and sat up. Who could it be at this hour way back here? She was surprised to discover it was just a teen boy. Curious, Aja initiated a conversation with him. She discovered his name was Zane. They spent the night watching the stars.

She felt absolutely drained the next morning, having gotten only a little before she'd been disturbed. She spent some time at the fire with some other kids before school, cooking a hot dog before lying down to catch a few z's on a nearby log.

She knuckled down to catching some fish for the rest of the day. She needed something to feed on, even if it was nothing more then a minnow from the little pond nearby.

Aja was not surprised, if a little disapointed, that she was only able to catch a single minnow by dinner time. Her stomach grumbled in complaint. Surviving on her own was definitely turning out to be a real challenge. Luckily, she was making friends each day. Several neighborhood kids were beginning to show up around the park; she was beginning to make friends. She'd have to be careful never to let her guard down, but she was grateful for the company.

That evening, Aja shared her camp fire with one more new aquaintence. The girl introduced herself as Cassandra Goth. They shared the warmth of the fire in companionable silence, each girl lost in her own thoughts.
